Gîte et Chambres d’hôtes de charme
If your looking for space
If you looking for peace
If you are looking for nature
The gîte
La Camillette offers a pleasant mix of modern comfort and old stones in a timeless setting.
In the region of ‘le Perche Sartois’, on the southern border of Normandy, located between the Norman hills and the castles of the Loire Valley, you will find our charming fermette. The ideal place for a delightful, relaxing holiday. Upon arrival, you immediately feel transported back in time.
The house is accessible via a small country road, which continues past the house as a walking path. Built in the 18th century and fully renovated in an old style (wooden beams, old floor tiles), the area measures 150 m². The furniture mostly comes from local brocantes and has been restored by us.
Just an hour and a half from Paris, one hour from Chartres, and 40 minutes from Le Mans.

The surroundings
Nogent le Bernard
A lovely small village with 1,011 inhabitants, which has managed to retain the typical charm of ‘le Perche Sarthois’.
Sights: L’église de Saint Jouin sur Marnes with its Romanesque façade. We also recommend a visit to ‘Le Château de Haut Eclair’ followed by a hearty walk to admire the Menhir de Courtevrais, which is classified as a monument.
Local Shops: An excellent butcher, famous for his ‘rillettes’ which have won numerous awards. There is also a small neighborhood supermarket, a good bakery, and a hair salon.
Shops nearby: Within a few minutes by car, you can reach Saint-Cosme and Varais or Bonnétable, where you will find various supermarkets, banks, and pharmacies.
La Ferté Bernard
The nearest large town is La Ferté Bernard (about a 15-minute drive). A town of culture and tradition from the Perche Sarthois. La Ferté Bernard is certainly worth a visit for its charming historic center, les Halles, l’église Notre-Dame des Marais, and the old city gate Saint Julien. Additionally, you can explore the town and its many rivers and canals aboard an electric whisper boat. For a more active exploration of the area, you can also rent canoes to navigate the river l’Huisne.
Further possibilities:
- Wide range of shops
- Local markets
- Restaurants
- Bowling
- Cinema
- Recreation lake
From the train station in La Ferté Bernard, there is a direct connection to Paris-Montparnasse, Chartres, and Le Mans.
More tourist information about La Ferté Bernard and its surroundings can be found on our special page describing activities in the area.
Le Mans
A bit further away (45 minutes by car) is Le Mans. The city is famous for its legendary 24-hour race but is less known for its historical character, beautiful cathedral, old town center, and small alleys waiting to be discovered. In the old part of the city, you will find a diverse range of charming shops, delightful restaurants, and a colorful collection of cafés and bistros.
Outdoor Recreation
There are several recreation lakes in the nearby area that you can enjoy in spring and summer. There are also swimming opportunities (beach with supervision). Additionally, you can often rent pedal boats and even sailboats. Finally, there are wonderful walks to be made in every season. The nearest recreational areas can be found here:
- Nogent le Bernard for a relaxing walk.
- Tuffé
- La Ferté Bernard
- Mamers
